Time manipulation is a crucial element in many Legend of Zelda titles, and with yesterday’s release of Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D the concept is once again fresh in everyone’s mind. Recently, GameSpot held an interview with the current director and producer of the Zelda series, Eiji Aonuma. In the interview, Majora’s Mask was, understandably, discussed in depth. However, one thing that Aonuma mentioned about time manipulation could impact future Legend of Zelda titles.

GameSpot presents a question about the uniqueness of how you progress through Majora’s Mask by manipulating time:

GameSpot: With the way that you progress through this game as opposed to more traditional Zelda games, especially with all the time manipulation, is that something that we might see again sometime in the future?

Eiji Aonuma: One particular game element, being able to slow down the passage of time, I think that’s something that we may be able to revisit in the future. But if we were to do so, it would have to to be implemented in a different way. It would have to be different to be meaningful. So that’s something you might see again in the future.
