PlayStation 4 firmware update 2.5 — also known as Yukimura — is live, and fans will probably be happy to know that it includes the highly anticipated suspend/resume feature. The feature, which was hinted at during the PlayStation 4’s launch window, will now allow players to launch into a game from the very point they left off after booting up the console from rest mode.

Other key features of the update include the ability to fully back up the PlayStation 4’s hard drive to an external storage device, as well as a variety of other social features, such as joining on friends via the “What’s New” section and the ability to search for friends by means of their Facebook profiles.

The ability to remap the PlayStation 4’s controller and larger text have also been included in the update to aid those with visual impairments or limited dexterity. Text-to-speech has been included, too.

You can find the full list of features included in today’s update over at the PlayStation blog.

Our Verdict

Joel Palermo
Hi everyone, my name is Joel and I'm a huge fan of all different genres of videos games. Specifically, I love horror video games, so expect to see a few articles from time to time about the more grotesque and stomach-churning side of the gaming industry. I also love making music and working on YouTube videos from time to time for my channel. My content is definitely random, but if you find something to your liking, don't be afraid to mention it to me on Twitter or my channel.
