Masochists, rejoice! In a fittingly ridiculous and ostensibly meaningless move, Ubisoft has unveiled their own product for the gaming headset market: the “Nosulus Rift.” The device functions differently than competitors like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The Nosulus only covers the player’s nose and is only compatible with the upcoming South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Whenever players fart in the game, the Nosculis funnels a flatulence-like gas into the mask, thereby allowing players to experience their playthrough through smell, not just sight and sound. It’s like you’re really in the game!

A few Gamescom attendees can try out the Nosulus for themselves at the convention. The device won’t be available for the wide public as it has been developed as an exclusive experience during events. This industry is changing every day, and the Nosulus is another pioneering achievement for the medium.
