Nintendo and Universal are hard at work on Super Nintendo World, but that’s not all that’s on the way. In addition to setting aside a massive plot of land for Nintendo-themed attractions like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong, Universal Orlando (which is one of three future Super Nintendo World locations) is getting a Pokémon theme park section, and sooner than you might think!
Pokémon attraction is planned to join the KidZone, near Woody Woodpecker and Barney, which is where Universal originally planned Super Nintendo World to go before they purchased more land for it. The Pokémon section is expected to be up and running by 2020, which is the same time Super Nintendo World will open in Japan. Orlando’s version of Super Nintendo World will come three years later in 2023.
It’s not clear at this time what sort of attractions are planned for the
Pokémon theme park, but with over 20 years of history and dozens of games and movies to choose from, Universal has plenty of source material. Super Nintendo World and the new Pokémon theme park will combine to give Nintendo a massive presence at Universal.
