Good news, aspiring game developers! Epic Games has just announced that they will be making Unreal Engine 4 free to colleges and universities who wish to use it for educational purposes. Approved educators will be free to use the engine, and all future updates will also be free. However, any commercial products made using Unreal Engine 4 will be subject to a 5% royalty fee.

This is a great time to start learning game design, as Unreal Engine 4 will now be much more widely available, and we’ll soon be offering game development tutorials for Unity here at Gamnesia, followed soon after by tutorials for Unreal Engine 4 itself.
