It seems that CD Projekt Red has decided to speak up about why The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was delayed until May of 2015. As you may know, the third installment in the series was supposed to be out in time for the holiday season this year, but was then pushed to February of the next year, before eventually getting pushed further to May. Adam Kiciński of CD Projekt Red says that the game is actually suffering due to the announcement of a release date so early into its development.
These announcements and delays came after the developer had said that there would be no more delays to the game’s release, and according to Kicinski, “Gamers… took our decision very well.” Kicińsk also says that the game’s large scale is the reason for its currently long development time, saying:
“We didn’t assume it will be this big. Only after putting all the pieces together, it turned out it’s bigger than the two first put together. Let me remind you: it’s open and not linear. We are just learning how to play it and we have to catch the little pieces. We know what to do, we just have to do it. We announced the release date very early and we’re paying for it now.” — Adam Kiciński
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now scheduled for a release on May 19th, 2015. Are you planning on picking it upon its release? Are these delays justified? Let us know down below!
