Illidan the Betrayer is on his way back! During Blizzard’s Gamescom conference the next expansion for World of Warcraft was revealed, World of Warcraft: Legion. The expansion will see another invasion attempt by the Burning Legion. A new continent, The Broken Isles, will actually be accessible before the expansion comes out during an event called The Broken Shores. The Broken Isles used to be a Night Elf civilization at the center of Azeroth until it was destroyed and forgotten in the fog, and this continent will be the center of the new demonic invasion that will be bigger than that during the War of The Ancients.

The level cap will be raised to 110, a new PvP honor system will provide a talent system offering perks and bonuses, and Prestige ranks will be added to let you reset your rank and go through it again for cosmetic rewards like portrait badges, mounts, and PvP Artifact variants.

New dungeons include: Halls of Valor, Black Rook Hold, Vault of the Wardens, Eye of Azshara, Darkheart Thicket, Neltharion’s Lair, Helheim, Suramar City and Violet Hold. New raids are the Emerald Nightmare with seven bosses, and Suramar Palace with ten bosses.

There will be 36 Artifacts, having one available for each specialization, and a long quest chain that will change according to what you are playing as.

Class Order halls are being added as well. Some we know of are that Shamans have a conclave overlooking the Maelstrom; Paladins have a one under Light’s Hope Chapel; Warlocks will create one on the Legion’s homeworld. You will upgrade and customize your Artifacts at these halls, and you can also find Champions, which is an evolution of sorts to the Warlords of Draenor follower system. It contains fewer followers but much more customization.

The main attraction however is the new class: Demon Hunter. Little is known about the class so far other than it is advertised to, “teach us the true meaning of sacrifice.” Two specializations will be available: Havoc for DPS and Vengeance for tanking. From the looks of the trailer, it seems one of the main features is turning in to a kick-ass demon.

A beta will occur later this year for World of Warcraft: Legion, but no specific date was given.
