Nintendo is capitalizing on nostalgia this holiday season with the release of the NES Classic Edition—a plug and play miniature replica of the original NES, complete with 30 pre-loaded games. Unfortunately, like many Nintendo products at launch, NES Classic Edition has been incredibly difficult to get a hold of, as supply has been extremely limited.
Nintendo promises they will fix this problem in time for the holidays, but in the meantime, social media is buzzing with people complaining that they can’t get their hands on one, and that even includes (at least) two Xbox executives!
Yesterday, Microsoft Studios Publishing General Manager Shanon Loftis tweeted out “Irrationally angry at not being able to get the NES Classic. Come on, Nintendo. Why would you short-bake these??” 343 Industries’ Studio Head Dan Ayoub agreed, replying “Right!??? I was refreshing Amazon like a crazy person.” Meanwhile, Xbox boss Phil Spencer was far luckier, as he received an NES Classic Edition before its release.
