Yelp Has Added a Filter That Identifies Businesses with PokéStops Nearby in Pokémon GO

0

With the Pokémon GO craze quickly becoming the talk of the entire world, plenty of businesses and services are looking to cash in on that hype as best they can. The latest to do so is Yelp, the popular business review website, which has added a brand new filter for users to search by: a “PokéStop Filter.” Users of the site can now filter out search results based on if a PokéStop is near the business in question, directing them to areas where they’re more likely to grab items and perhaps find Pokémon in the popular app.

Yelp can’t add all these by themselves, of course, so they’ve asked users of the site to help identify which businesses have a Stop in the vicinity. If you’ve got the Yelp app on your phone, all you need do is check-in from that location, at which point the app will ask if one is nearby. As more people check-in from various stops, the database will no doubt become more and more reliable for finding that perfect place to grab lunch and items together!

Plenty of businesses have already reported an uptick in traffic to their stores thanks to
Pokémon GO, and many more are likely to request their location be added to the app via Niantic’s online request form. If Niantic wasn’t swamped with requests before, they’re sure to be now!

Do you use Yelp a lot, or will this new filter help you to start using it? What do you think of this new filter idea? Who do you suspect we’ll see jumping on the
Pokémon GO bandwagon next? Let us know in the comments!
