Steam has taken the world by storm and has emerged in various lucrative markets like China, India, and Brazil. Because traditional forms of payment like credit or debit card through Visa or MasterCard is not readily available for everyone, Steam has found a solution and partnered with Bitpay to integrate bitcoin payment into Steam. With this new form of payment, international customers can now use virtual currency to purchase any game they want.

“As the internet’s universal currency, Bitcoin will allow Steam to easily reach gamers in every market around the world – without the high fees or the risk of chargeback fraud that come with card payments.Whether they’re hardcore gamers or first-time players, Steam’s players deserve a faster, safer payment method. With Steam’s bitcoin integration, customers will be able to use any bitcoin wallet to scan, pay, and get back to gaming in seconds without having to provide sensitive financial information.” — Bitpay

According to Bitpay, they hope other platforms will join Steam to make bitcoin “the most popular payment method for the world’s gamers.” Do you think other companies will follow Steam’s lead and accept bitcoin? Sound off in the comments below!
